Your aligners are custom-made and removable, and each one in the series is slightly different - you move from one to the next as your teeth gradually shift. You'll change to a new set roughly every two weeks, and wear each set 20 to 22 hours a day, taking them out to eat, drink, brush and floss.
You come in for a progress check-up around every six to eight weeks. We check that treatment is tracking to plan and make adjustments if it isn't.
Once you're finished with your aligners, you'll need to wear a retainer to hold your teeth in their new position. Straightening teeth and keeping them straight are two different jobs, and the retainer is the second one.
Most patients are in treatment for somewhere around 12 to 18 months.
