The imaging behind your treatment plan

Aligners move teeth through bone, so a good plan starts with knowing exactly what is there. Where your treatment calls for it, we arrange a cone beam CT (CBCT) scan as part of treatment planning.

3D, not flat

A CBCT produces detailed three-dimensional images of the teeth, jaws and surrounding structures - considerably more information than a conventional 2D dental X-ray.

Lower dose than a medical CT

Cone beam scanning uses a significantly lower dose of radiation than a traditional CT scan.

Used for orthodontic planning

Orthodontic treatment planning is one of the situations a CBCT is recommended for - it allows accurate diagnosis and planning from detailed images of the teeth, jaws and face.

Not every case needs one. We will tell you at your consultation whether yours does - see The Invisalign Journey.
